Watsonville PAL programs are offered to help local youth be the best they can be


WE SUPPORT CHILDREN AND YOUTH TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL

OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDE:


— KARATE

Karate is a program that offers youth and adults, ages 10+, a skill in self-defense. Participants meet at the PAL Gym on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:45 pm -6:45 pm. During the hour session participants are taught by a qualified instructor. 

— JUDO

Watsonville PAL partners with the Watsonville Judo Club to provide a safe, positive and energetic environment for youth and adults to enjoy the art of Judo. Please call the PAL office to get more details on this wonderful program.

— AIKIDO

Aikido is a Japanese martial art and is one of the highest forms of self-defense. The techniques of Aikido do not depend on strength but upon developing the ability to blend without conflict. The word “Aikido” means: “Ai” – Harmony, “Ki” = spirit or inner energy and “Do” – the way. “The Way of Harmony”. Aikido is not a sport in that there are no competitions, no champions or trophies, no winners or losers. We train to better ourselves and defend against unwarranted attack. It also gives you self-confidence like you have never known before. Join Bill Cass Sensei, Doug Au Sensei and Shannon Fry Sensei and have some fun while learning self-defense.

— AMBASSADOR PROGRAM 

The Ambassador Program is for youth ages 12-18 years old who would like to be in a leadership role at Watsonville PAL. The Ambassadors program will provide middle school youth (mentees), ages 8 -14, with peer-to-peer mentoring with their assigned ambassadors. Mentees and Ambassadors will complete monthly meetings, a monthly community service project and participate in various PAL activities. Call PAL Office at 831-763-4147 for an application today!.

— BILINGUAL LEARN & PLAY

More than just a play group, Learn & Play is offered as a free resource to provide early childhood education through a structured circle time followed by play based learning activities and opportunities for social connection. Learn & Play is a fun and welcoming, safe place where parents and caregivers can participate in their toddlers learning experience through songs, stories, art, movement and other fun activities lead by the Learn & Play leaders. We look forward to having fun with you and your little ones!

— BEISM PARKOUR

Parkour the art of run, jump and climb. Parkour is about overcoming the challenges obstacles present while learning to adapt to the difficulties. Through training parkour, we can expand the confidence in ourselves as well as the knowledge of the world around us.

— Boxing

— Caminos El Exito (Pathways to Success)

This program is administered by the Watsonville Police Department. It is a diversion program for Watsonville youth between the ages of 10 – 17 years old, who commit a first-time offense (misdemeanor). Pro-social events take place 2 – 3 times a month. Our goal is to provide the youth with a healthy and positive environment with other youth in the program.

— CADETS

The mission of the Watsonville Police Cadet Organization is to promote the community’s youth through education, fieldwork training and mentor-ship in the field of law enforcement, as well as, the opportunity to participate in and learn the needs of our community as it relates to law enforcement.
